Unionville Ranch is our dream. It's a dream of living and working in an area where we are not separated from our horses by a noisy freeway and an hour of our life. In constructing this dream we have built a home for both ourselves and our horses that is much more than cold words like facility or installation. Because our horses are a large part of that dream, yours are too. We want all our animals to be safe, happy and free from harm as much as possible. Our stalls and exercise areas are built with equine safety in mind. Our turn out fields are fenced with non injuring vinyl fence. Any wire fences use smooth or "horse wire" for the strands, no barbed wire. Our stalls are spacious, with special attention paid to making sure that protruding boards and other injurious objects are not where they can injure legs or flanks. Our stall dividers are high enough so that horses can not get their legs over the top (for instance when they think they are in heat), or crib on, if they are cribbers. All our automatic waterers and mangers are rounded. The utmost care was taken in designing an injury-free environment for both our horses and yours. Our stalls, wash racks and all surrounding areas are kept clean and manicured by our grounds staff, our barn helpers are trained to care for your horses in the same manner that they would be expected to care for ours, and they are taught to adhere to the rigorous standards of equine care that you would expect in the finest barns. Our barn helpers are taught to respect the horse's space while communicating with the animals in "horse language" as opposed to the traditional human approach of breaking, discipline and training. Our horses are literally a part of a human-animal social milieu where each is accorded their respective social responsibilities and each interact with the other keeping that in mind. Our Philosophy in short is this: Our horses are a unique and valuable extension of each of us, and deserve the same care and respect as we do. Thanks for entrusting the care of your horse to us, Pat Galloway and Kris Nielsen
